Main Street Provisions

On South Main Street, just a block or so south of Charleston Blvd, you’ll find an unassuming little restaurant tucked into one of our historic buildings. Main Street Provisions is a hidden gem of Downtown, and in our semiannual poll, it comes up All-Around Fave Restaurant again and again.

The delightfully decorated room, giving off Midcentury Modern vibes, includes a large bar (full menu served) and plenty of booths and tables. An open kitchen hints at what’s ahead: a unique take on modern American cuisine.

You can start off with small plates or just make a sharing meal out of them: Red Deer Tartare, Smoked Meat in a Blanket, and other innovative selections rotate with the seasons. The mains are just as interesting: pasture bird, oven burger, rabbit boudin, and Baja seabags were on the menu during our recent visit. Expect the menu to change, and to change often: they’re working with the produce that’s great at the time. If you see something you might like, ORDER IT, because it might not be there next time. Most evenings will also include a special or two, which are invariably worth ordering.

In the mood for steak? The Utah Woman’s Steak is a mainstay on the menu, and it’s amazeballs.

You’ll also find sides that feature simple ingredients—carrots, whipped potatoes, and rice, for example—done exceedingly well.

Service has been consistently delightful, with a friendly, smiling staff and rapid turnaround from the kitchen.

It’s har for us to say more great things about Main Street Provisions—other than, “get over there, stat.”
